The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center’s (MLSC) 2035 Fund is designed to strengthen every layer of the life sciences ecosystem spanning startups, academic research labs, industry leaders and the next generation of life sciences talent. It aims to accelerate cutting-edge research through partnerships, foster translation from lab to impact, and close critical infrastructure gaps by investing in “people, places, and technologies shaping the future of health and science.”

The fund supports multiple program tracks including translational research via collaboration, women’s-health innovation, disease-specific biobanking, advanced research equipment and infrastructure, and under-resourced sectors such as rare diseases, microbiome, medical devices and non-opioid pain therapeutics.

In terms of eligibility, the Fund is open to “organizations across Massachusetts with a strong vision for driving innovation, collaboration, and inclusive growth in the life sciences.” More specifically, for some tracks (for example the Research Infrastructure & Equipment program) applicants must be Massachusetts-based not-for-profit entities (academic/research institutions, hospitals engaged in research, incubators/accelerators) and the request must be for life-sciences infrastructure (defined under Massachusetts law) that benefits the broader Massachusetts ecosystem. For other tracks like the Women’s Health Initiative and Frontiers Program, eligibility likewise limits to Massachusetts not-for-profit research institutions and the project must focus on translational opportunity in biotech, devices, imaging, etc.

Application deadline is Friday, November 21st
