Membrane detector

Finds membrane-like lines along the directions you choose

View
Definition
The Membrane detector is a filter in the Basic Operations ModuleLoading... and the filter counterpart of the MembraneLoading... detection engine. It searches for V-like structures, dark membranes on a bright background, and for ᴧ-like structures, bright membranes on a dark background, with a minimum-variation threshold for each. You choose the directions it searches, for example 0°, 45°, 90° and 135°.

How It Works

You'll find it under Basic Operations Module › Filters › Membrane detector. Its settings include:

  • V-like and ᴧ-like: dark membranes on a bright background, and bright membranes on a dark background
  • Custom Directions: the number of directions, then the angles searched, for example 4 | 0 90 45 135
  • Min variation for V-like / ᴧ-like: a minimum variation threshold for each kind (default 0)

Several older parameters (rotation method, interpolation) are deprecated.

Simplified

This filter traces thin dark-on-light or light-on-dark lines across an image, in the directions you choose.
